Tokyo – Prosecutors are seeking to question Japanese ruling party kingpin, Ichiro Ozawa, over a political funding scandal, Kyodo news agency said yesterday.
This could pose as a possible blow to the party ahead of an election.
Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama’s ratings have already nosedived, eroded by his preceived mishandling of a feud over a US military and funding scandals, dimming chances for his Democratic Party in the upper house election which is expected in July.
Prosecutors are seeking to question Ozawa, the party’s secretary-general, following a judicial panel’s decision last month that he should be charged over a scandal, Kyodo said.
