Fossils belong to new dinosaur species

HAKUSAN (Ishikawa Prefecture): Fossils unearthed here have been recognised as belonging to a fourth new dinosaur species to be discoverd in Japan, the municipal board of education said.

The fossil of the planteating dinosaur were discovered in 1998 in stratum dating from the early Cretaceous Period around 130 million years ago, officials said.

The dinosaur, believed to be about 1.3 metres long, was named Albalophosaurusyamaguchiorum, after two local residents who have long contributed to fossil research.
